Gayà: “I feel happy and proud to have played 350 games for Valencia CF and I hope there are many more to come”
The Valencia CF captain spoke to VCF Media after reaching this milestone with his boyhood club.
The Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà spoke to VCF Media after reaching 350 official appearances for the club.
THE MILESTONE
“I feel happy and proud to have played so many games at the club where I've been since I was 11 years old. It's a lot of games, and the best thing is that I feel happy and I hope that there are many more games to come”.
FIRST-TEAM CAPTAIN
“I'm aware of how difficult it is to reach the first team -let alone becoming captain. Only a chosen few get to do that. From when I was 11 until now, I've had a lot of teammates who believed and who had the same motivation as me to reach the first team, and they haven't managed it. Very few make it.
I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity, I was able to make the most of it and then they believed in me. That's key, and thanks to all this I'm here today”.
MEMORIES
“There have been a lot of moments. The one that excited me the most was the Copa Del Rey final that we won. Winning a trophy with Valencia CF was incredible, and I remember it as if it were yesterday”.
350 APPEARANCES FOR VALENCIA CF
”I’m really proud. It's a lot of games. I'm not obsessed at all with overtaking other players. What I try to do is enjoy it, be happy competing at the highest level, and that leads you to accumulate games and overtake legends at the club.
Now I've overtaken Carboni, who we all know was a great at this club. Being able to play more games than him is something that I'd never imagined.
CARBONI'S MESSAGE
“To have a Valencia CF legend take the time out to say some kind words is something I'm really happy about. I send him my best wishes too. I know that he follows the team”.
FORM
.
“We're in good form. I've had a lot of games in a row playing 90 minutes, which also gives me more confidence.
Having played these 350 games means I've played a lot over all these seasons. When you think about it, it's a lot of games. I want to keep going and keep improving. I always think that I can improve, and that's what I try to do: Improve every day. That's my motivation.
OLD-SELF GAYÀ
“If I had my 11-year-old self in front of me, I'd tell him that I wouldn't have thought, in my wildest dreams that I'd be doing what I'm doing here at the club. I've been here since I was really young and I've played at practically every level at Valencia CF. I know how big it is and everything I've done has been an honour. I'm really happy”.
